Unearthing MassGrave is a brutal death metal band hailing from Santiago, Chile that I found out through their vocalist Jorge Merino. The music and vocals are great on this four song self titled demo. The only knock I'll give it is that the guitars and bass levels could've been higher in volume. The guitar and bass playing from Miguel Di Vicenzi (guitar) and Juan Krisis (bass) are intense with a good mix of speed, midpaced and slower moshable riffs backed by some pretty good skin bashing, stick work and foot work by drummer Cesar Lopez. The guitar tone itself has kind of a gritty, raw edge to it similar to the sound of Bloodbath, Dismember, Entombed of old etc. Jorge's vocals are similar to that of Chris Barnes especially the scream. When I mentioned that to him he said that Barnes was a big influence for him. Track two "Ectoplasmalignant" has a cool sounding riff in it. I think they might be bending the strings while holding down the chords and speedpicking. I could be wrong but that's what it kind of sounds like and sounds pretty sweet. Track three "The Hell, The Cell" has some killer slam material with, yes, pinch harmonics. Track four "Sinister Behaviors" has a few cool sounding bass lines in it as well. All in all I personally like their music a lot and look forward to what they come out with next. You know the drill, go to the sites below and check out their stuff.
